Marrski started in 2010 when Ryan Marrs got the idea to create a shoe ski training aid for barefoot waterskiing. At the time the the best shoe ski on the market was $100. Being a broke college student, Ryan could not afford it and decided to make it own. The shoe ski was made with a Vans shoe and sandal super glued together. The name you ask, simply came from Ryan’s last name and ski merged together making it Marrki. The first and only Marrski Shoe Ski was made for $27 and used for a couple of years before retiring.
Ryan Marrs has been waterskiing nearly his entire life. He first started skiing by standing on his dad’s combo skis when he was two years old. He then learned how to barefoot waterski at the age of thirteen. For the next six years Ryan did not progress his skills much and only really skiied once a year. He actually thought about giving up the sport all together until his good friend Josh started barefooting and they began to push each other.
